BGS Member Spotlight is our way of saying thank you to top contributors in our Facebook group. These are the people who step up to help others with questions about games and provide other input that makes our community great.

Nick is from the far western suburbs of Chicago. He started gaming early, and has great memories as a child playing Fireball Island and Thunder Road with his parents. However, the original Nintendo came out and consumed the majority of his childhood in terms of games. Twenty years later, he returned to the world of tabletop due to the digital implementations of Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan; both, believe it or not, discovered through Xbox Live. Nowadays, he rarely plays video games and his consoles are collecting dust. Nick is a genuine Carcassonne fanatic; collecting all versions and expansions. He doesn’t limit himself however, and has dabbled in everything from Magic the Gathering to all varieties of tabletop games.

Do you have a favorite game or game mechanic?
Tough call on just one, but my favorites are deck building, tile placement and tableau building.

Which games hit your table the most?
Okay, going for extra victory points here with some bonus titles. Right now with friends its: Clank! (all versions), Cottage Garden, Fidelitas, Best Treehouse Ever, One Deck Dungeon, Pencil & Powers and Welcome to DinoWorld. With my kids and family: Fireball Island, Go Nuts for Donuts, Karuba, Potion Explosion and Herbaceous.

Do you have a “dream game” that doesn’t exist, but you would love to play if you did?
I’d die for some games in the Transformers Generation One universe. A Marvel legendary style deck builder would rock. Can you imagine the battles between Autobot vs Deception battles? Makes for a perfect co-op mode. A smaller Hero Realms […]

Krista resides in Charlotte, North Carolina and was introduced to the hobby about a year and a half ago. Her brother brought Carcassonne over one night, and from that moment on, her and her kids were hooked. She has been a member of the BGS Deals group, practically since the beginning.

Do you have a favorite game or game mechanic?
Currently, that would be Sagrada.

Which three games hit your table the most?
I would have to say Santorini, Hive, and Kingdomino!

Do you have a grail game, one that’s nearly unattainable. If so, have you acquired it yet?
Carcassonne: The Castle. But, it is sadly out of print.

What do you like best about the BGS Deals group and if you have purchased games through those links, which one was your best find?
I love seeing deals on games that are on my wishlist, as well as discovering new games I had not heard of before. My best find was probably when Amazon Prime Day went live. All of the deals were going really fast but I was able to get six games off my wishlist at 60% off or more!

Bob lives in Central Indiana and has been into the board game hobby for almost thirty years. Introduced by a friend, he started out with Avalon Hill, Dungeons & Dragons, along with a few others. Some of his favorites from then that still hit the table weekly are Empire Builder and Speed Circuit.

Do you have a favorite game or game mechanic?
I’m a huge fan of co-op games. I would much rather play with my friends as a team than to play against them. My current favorite game is Gloomhaven. It’s a great game and it’s obvious the designer worked hard to make sure that every aspect of it was perfect. The way your cards work is absolutely genius.

Which three games hit your table the most?
Currently it would be Gloomhaven, Clank, and Ticket To Ride. My mother loves Ticket To Ride so every time we are together we play 4-5 games of it.

Do you have a “dream game” that doesn’t exist, but you would love to play if it did?
I always used to say a board game based on the video game Fallout. Since it looks like we will now have that by the end of the year, I will now start saying a board game based on the movie The Warriors. I would love to play as the Warriors and fight my way back to Coney Island.

Dark Tower. I have hopes that my childhood copy is […]
